Furthermore, we expressed that as a matter of public policy, SEIU Healthcare believes that workers should be guaranteed access to full-time work at fair, living wages. Experts have stated that full-time jobs help limit the spread of viruses, whether they be during a pandemic like COVID-19 or the common flu every winter.
Returning to a system that is dominated by part-time jobs at low wages is not only unfair but bad public health. As such, we have recommended to the government that they introduce a universal minimum wage of least $25 for all low wage workers, like PSWs.
