Over the past two-and-a-half years, Ontario healthcare workers have led the way in keeping Ontario safe from the COVID-19 pandemic. Through these difficult times, you have been selfless, constantly putting others’ well-being ahead of your own.
On April 28, 2022, which is the National Day of Mourning – a day dedicated to all those who have been injured or killed while on the job – SEIU Healthcare was proud to unveil a monument at our head office that was built in dedication to all Ontario healthcare workers.
The monument was created by internationally-recognized and award-winning artist Patrick Bermingham and is of a woman putting on her scrubs and gown as if it’s her armour and she’s going into battle.
As part of the unveiling and Day of Mourning ceremony, we remembered six SEIU Healthcare members who lost their lives due to COVID-19 or other work-related injuries and illnesses over the past two years. Friends, families and colleagues of these members were on hand to speak and share their memories.
SEIU Healthcare is proud to represent over 60,000 healthcare workers in Ontario, and this monument is just one of many ways we recognize your hard work, dedication and sacrifice.
