16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign running from November 25 to December 10 to raise awareness and end violence against women, girls and LGBTQ2+ individuals.

As a union that represents 60,000 healthcare workers belonging to many equity-deserving communities, we are committed to doing everything we can to ensure everyone is safe from violence and discrimination.

As part of that commitment, we created the Member Assistance Program, which provides resources and supports around issues that so many need but don’t have access to, including

  • Domestic Violence
  • Mental Health and Addiction
  • Food/Housing Insecurity
  • Legal Assistance
  • Financial Wellness/
  • Income Tax Support
  • and more!
We’re here to help. Access our newly expanded MAP by calling 1-(877)-672-7348 or on Live Chat through the SEIU Healthcare Mobile App. All calls and messages will remain confidential.

On December 6, we mark the anniversary of the tragic femicide at Polytechnique Montréal, where 14 young women were killed in an act of violent misogyny. Over 30 years later, femicide is rising, with women and girls still losing their lives simply because of their gender.

This tragedy remains a stark reminder that we all have a role in the fight against gender-based violence and in supporting those affected. The need for action and solidarity has never been more urgent.
