How You Can Get $1,100

If you’re a Personal Support Worker, you’re now eligible for Canada’s new Tax Credit for Personal Support Workers– worth up to $1,100 per year for the next five years. This victory was led by SEIU Healthcare, but the benefit applies to every PSW across Canada, whether you’re a union member or not. Once the federal budget passes, the credit will officially take effect, ensuring PSWs receive up to $1,100 per year as direct financial relief.
Here’s what we know so far:
- The credit is refundable, meaning eligible PSWs will receive the money even if they don’t owe income tax.
- It’s based on your PSW income- up to $1,100 or 5% of your annual income.
- Details on how and when it will be paid- such as through your tax return or a separate CRA payment – will be confirmed once the budget passes.
This is a win for every PSW in Canada, made possible because SEIU Healthcare members fought to make sure all care workers were recognized and rewarded.
