SEIU Healthcare, the union that represents over 60,000 frontline healthcare workers in Ontario, has issued the following statement from President Sharleen Stewart:
Today, ten Ontario unions representing more than 250,000 thousand affected broader public sector employees, announced their intention to launch a coordinated Charter challenge against Bill 124. As well, the Ontario Labour movement, with the Power of Many, will be initiating an aggressive campaign to repeal Bill 124.
SEIU Healthcare proudly endorsed Patty Coates as the first woman president of the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL), who was just elected to this role today during the OFL 2019 Power of Many Convention. SEIU Healthcare also congratulates Ahmad Gaied, who was acclaimed as the OFL Secretary-Treasurer, and Janice Folk-Dawson, the newly elected OFL Executive Vice-President.
Paramedics working for County of Lambton Emergency Medical Services are launching a volunteer run program to provide transportation and care for patients in hospice and palliative care on short outings in their community. The program is being supported by SEIU Healthcare, the union that represents the paramedics, the County of Lambton, and St. Joseph’s Hospice.
