This summer, SEIU Healthcare held its 9th annual Rob West Take a Kid Fishing Day at Glen Haffy Conservation Area in Caledon, Ont. This event marked more than 1,000 children having now participated in this wonderful day.
The event is held annually in honour of deceased SEIU Healthcare Union Representative Rob West who was an avid fisher. The day is fully-funded through generous donations.
This year, members and their children and grandchildren came for a fun-filled day of fishing, games, arts and crafts, and a delicious BBQ. The kids enjoyed competing in relay races, playing volleyball, and participating in other fun games.
It was very exciting when one member caught a fish, and many kids reeled out some crayfish. All the kids went home with a prize and a toy fishing rod.
We are already looking forward to the 10th Take a Kid Fishing Day next year!
